Were You Infected with 2013itis?

**Just a quick reminder - the clinic is closed after close of business 20th December and re-opens on 13th January 2014.  If you need to restock your supplies, this week is it - please call us on 55939145 to arrange for pick ups, or email reply here with your shopping list.  Bek is available over the Christmas break for massage - best to call her directly after the 20th on 0418784876.  **

Happy Days to you - only a few of them left before the end of 2013!  Some I hear say 'Yay - this year was hard - lets kick it out and welcome 2014 - 2014 will be 'our' year!'  Sound familiar?  It seems to me as though every year is finalised by this phrase.  If you felt like you caught 2013itis - a leftover mutated strain of 2012itis - be aware - the 2014itis strain could be even more virulent.

What is she talking about I hear you say?  This blog is devoted to altering your perception of time, the conversion of "I don't have time" to "I have time to..." and to claiming back your nervous health for 2014 with new strategies so you can buy back more seconds on the clock.

Many patients I speak to (over 80%) are already pushed for time when it comes to day to day life and fitting in those annoying things like:

Eating well

Drinking water (then excreting it - yes that has to happen too)

Having a daily bowel evacuation (at least once a day)

Preparing nourishing food

Enjoying rest periods

And it is my assessment that these deficiencies in their lifestyle that has bought them into my clinic into the first place.  I know - it isn't rocket science, but NASA could certainly work on bending time a little so we can at least fit these vital human supportive practices into our days so we can continue to contribute wholly to our worlds - don't you think?  By the way, the acronym for NASA for the purposes of this blog means: No Area Should (be) Abandoned.

It may sound ludicrous, but it is what I would coin the disease of the 2000's - Diminished Time Perception.  There are some ways to push the walls of time restriction out so you can enjoy the space around you again long enough to perceive or sense what your body needs are.  Here are my very quick, very easy, time efficient suggestions...read quickly:

1.  Observe your daily routine with absolute scrutiny and highlight the times where you undertake activities of inefficient activity - TV watching, Facebooking in excess, long phone calls, staring into space and gaming - all rob your perception of time and create tension.  Start replacing those moments with the following activities.

Take micropauses in your day - little mini moments to take a few deep breaths through your nose, assess your needs, check into your body and recall what you've done to look after it so far.

2.  Schedule in water breaks - they only need to be 5 minutes every 2 hours or so.  Initially you may need to set reminders on your devices to prompt you to remember.  Start with 2 large ones on waking (water that is).

3.  If time passes too slowly and you are becoming irritable and picky - homeopathic Nux Vomica is brilliant.

4.  Pre make meals and freeze in portion sizes - you know exactly what's in it and how much you are eating.

5.  Factor in mini lounge room exercises like bridge holds, squats, lunges, push ups, tricep dips, burpees - even a few of these a day over the day will contribute.  Shadow boxing when you are frustrated is a great way to move your energy around for clearer and productive thinking.

6.  Allow yourself the luxury of a good elimination (I so want to say poo because its shorter to read).

Remember - the definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over and expecting a different result - you simply run the risk of heading into time poor territory if you don't reclaim some back for yourself to care for your basic needs.  Immunise yourself now against this epidemic infection!
